V60 coffee pourover (funnel): a new level of taste and aesthetics

Published by admin on

At first glance, a coffee ceremony is not a ceremony at all, but rather the opposite, a rather operational and quick act of consumption. Well, at least, that’s the impression in Western pop culture. The option of thoughtful coffee drinking exists, but so far it is less popular, although it has its own loyal audience and its own special coffee utensils for making filter coffee, namely the V60 pourover.

When we first thought about making our coffee utensils, the main desire was to bring the coffee ritual as close as possible to the aesthetic and taste level of a tea ceremony. But at the same time, to leave ergonomics and practicality, because no matter how delicious the coffee from our V60 pourover is, as a rule, it still remains an extremely important dose of strength for daily efficiency.

Why did we decide to create our own coffee pourover from the KERRA workshop?

Before the ceramic workshop and other projects in which I participated, at the very beginning I was engaged in coffee: I had the same “coffee mobiles” in my household. And since I had to do everything at once: preparation, purchases and business organization, I was completely devoted to studying what can and cannot be done with coffee, how to do it and why to do it. And I have always loved it, sincerely and strongly, but with some kind of calm, deep love, without excessive dependence (which I certainly do not condemn, because coffee is worth it). Therefore, it was not long to wait (actually 3 years) until in our ceramic workshop the idea came to our heads to make our own V60 pourovers, so that they would have all the refinement of handmade, but at the same time also meet all the technical requirements for high-quality preparation. Because I personally adore coffee prepared through a pourover and it is important for me that our coffee sets for making filter coffee work perfectly.

In fact, the very shape of the pourover, its geometric sophistication, is a difficult challenge for a ceramist. Due to the nature of ceramics, without knowledge of gluing and casting, such a project is not even worth approaching. Therefore, the temptation to make a pourover of the V60 model with our own hands was even somewhat sporty and professionally justified for us.

What are the advantages of a V60 pourover coffee maker?

A coffee pourover is needed by those who love not just caffeine, but coffee with all its flavor nuances. First of all, the whole point is that having a whole, conceptual coffee set raises the level of taste and aesthetics of the entire coffee ceremony to the level of a tea ceremony. This is important because drinking coffee like tea means clearly feeling how one variety differs from another, so clearly that accidental confusion becomes impossible. That is, we are talking about sensory sensations here: taste, sight, touch… All the acidity and all the pungency, all the sweetness, nuttiness, woodiness, fruitiness, absolutely all the notes that you have encountered in different varieties of coffee are felt through a pourover more clearly and distinctly than with other brewing methods.

The fact is that I experienced this firsthand when I first tasted coffee from a pourover. At that moment, I seemed to have rediscovered coffee for myself and immediately wanted to buy myself a V60 pourover, or at least some kind, the main thing is that it was my own. Because in general, I am a fan of nutty, sour, berry and fruit lines of flavors and aftertastes, so I needed a tool that could squeeze out the full power of subtle shades. I wanted to study this format more, savor it and understand it, and maybe even try my hand at it. Fortunately, the neighbors near our ceramic workshop were a family that deals with coffee, namely KAVA KRAFT. That is why the corridor always smelled strongly and seductively of coffee, and in the nearest reach was an assortment of truly valuable varieties of Arabica from all over the world. At the very beginning, we used our pourover with a cup for personal purposes, to try the entire range of our neighbors. And now our pourovers have already been to an exhibition in Holland, and in Europe in general, where the “vesheki” culture is more widespread – there, in Germany and France, our Ukrainian pourovers are on tables and are actively used. And in our native Ukraine, more and more people are choosing our individual V60 pourover for coffee for themselves.

The nuances of choosing your V60 coffee funnel

We made our V60 coffee pourovers in size and shape as a copy of the original haribo v60 pourover, not just because the shape is very good, but also because uniformity is needed for maximum convenience and quality work. After all, the same filter packs are suitable for our pourovers as for ordinary mass models. However, we have gone much stronger in terms of quality and visual appearance:

  • ideal wall thickness of each funnel
  • eco-friendly materials (ukrainian clay + expensive german glazes)
  • art object level design
  • uniqueness of each product
  • convenient set of pourover and cup

For coffee sets, we have already used our best proven designs – this has borne fruit, so that all models are sold equally and harmoniously, except that the elven pourover is very ahead in sales during the winter season.

You can buy a V60 pourover and choose the best Ukrainian-made funnels in our catalog. This is for those who know what it is and for those who don’t. The main thing is that a person loves coffee and is ready to feel something more in it than the absence of a bad barista, over-roasted beans, and a coffee machine that hasn’t been washed for a long time.
