Yes, you can. Due to the unique design of our teapots — a hybrid of a gaiwan and a teapot — our pieces are suitable for brewing most types of Chinese tea, including both shou and sheng pu-erh.

We aimed to create a universal form so you can enjoy most types of tea. White, green, and both light and dark oolongs work perfectly, just like in a traditional gaiwan. Pu-erh and black teas will also brew beautifully, as long as you properly preheat the teapot before your tea session.

The tea trays (chaban) are made by a Ukrainian craftsman, STEPCHUKWORKSHOP. You can find him on Google or Instagram. Be sure to mention that you’re coming from Illia at KERRA and use the promo code “CLAY&WOOD” for a discount. I’ve personally been using his trays for years and haven’t seen anything more beautiful or well-crafted on the Ukrainian market.

Yes, absolutely. You can order extra cups — either matching this set or different ones. Just place an order, and we’ll get in touch to clarify all the details.

Yes, this set is perfect for beginners. It works with most tea types and sets a high standard in terms of aesthetics from the very start. Another advantage is that it’s fully handmade and includes everything needed for a tea ceremony. The teapot also features a spout, making pouring easier than with a traditional gaiwan.

Yes, it includes everything required for a Chinese tea ceremony: a teapot (gaiwan), a cha hai (fairness pitcher), a cha he (tea presentation vessel), and cups.

To be clear, China also produces incredible handmade teaware — especially at a high level — but this does not apply to mass-market items from AliExpress. From a technical standpoint, our pieces are more durable because we use only high-quality German glazes. The walls are thicker — we don’t skimp on Ukrainian clay — which helps prevent burning your fingers. We also developed a unique teapot shape that works well with different tea types and added a spout for easier pouring.

This tea set is a collaboration between two brothers — Anton and Illia. Anton shapes the gaiwan and cha hai, while Illia makes the cups and cha he. We handle sanding together, while Illia is responsible for textures. Hand glazing with a brush is divided by color: Anton works more with green, beige, and white, while Illia handles most of the other colors. So each set is truly a collaborative, brother-made piece. The full production process takes 1 to 2 months, including drying, double firing, and finishing (texturing and sanding).

Teaware used for high-quality Chinese tea is traditionally not washed with detergents — only with water. For Chinese tea culture, using soap may even feel inappropriate. However, if needed, you can wash our ceramics just like any regular tableware.

We pack every order as securely as possible — safe delivery is our responsibility. If any damage occurs due to unforeseen circumstances, it will be handled between us and the shipping provider, as all parcels are fully insured. The customer bears no financial risk. That said, we honestly can’t remember the last time anything was broken in transit.

With every tea set, we include a mini cup matching the set and a home clay workshop kit: a piece of sculpting clay plus a detailed laminated guide explaining how to shape, texture, dry, and work with clay in general. We do this so you can personally connect with the material your tea set is made from.

Why did I even make a tea set for a tea ceremony?

The tea set for Chinese tea and KERRA is a very long story that dates back to the very beginning of the brand and the creation of the family Kyiv ceramic atelier of the same name. Handmade ceramics for me personally began with Chinese tea, because at that time I had my own tea shop. And of course, first of all, ceramic teaware was the starting point in my ceramic journey, which continues to this day. You can read more about my first batch of bowls in the article on our blog, and it was on this batch that I got acquainted with my favorite glaze, called “Aventurine”. It is with it that the tea set for tea ceremonies “Dragon’s Treasure” is covered. High-quality, convenient dishes for Chinese tea were from the very beginning the delicious result that I wanted to achieve as one of the first in creating ceramics. The first dishes for the Chinese tea ceremony were the tea sets “Dragon’s Treasure” and “Elf Cha”.

Handmade tea set and its main features

The main feature of a handmade tea set is that each copy is special. All our sets are made entirely by hand, which means that we molded them ourselves, textured them, polished them, and designed them too, what can I say here. Therefore, each tea set will differ from the second copy of the same model. And this is influenced not only by the mood during molding. Imagine that there are different dishes for the Chinese tea ceremony in one oven. One gaiwan is closer to the spirals, which heat up to 1100 degrees, and the other is in the center, further from all the spirals. As a result, we will get a redder lava teapot from LAVA TEA SET, this is the one that stood closer to the spiral. And the second will be more orange, because it stood further away. Both will look incredible, but the difference will be traced in the color pattern. Even without this factor, because we glaze everything with a brush by hand, all our tea ceremony dishes: gaiwan, teapot, chahai, chahe and bowls will have a unique glaze opening and a unique color. Each product has a unique palette. This is the main feature.

How convenient is it to use your tea sets for the ceremony?

First of all, our tea set for Chinese tea was created to be even more convenient than ordinary Chinese counterparts. Because, as a rule, an ordinary gaiwan has a round shape, and we added a spout to our teapots for convenient pouring. And in general, in addition to aesthetics, we have something to be proud of, because all our tea ceremony sets have:

    • ergonomic shape, so that it is convenient to hold and pour when brewing
    • thin walls, so as not to burn your fingers
    • built-in filter in the gaiwan to filter the leaves

all our teaware is durable and molded from high-quality materials (Ukrainian clay, which is the best in Europe in my opinion + German effect glazes, which are the best in my opinion)

So, our tea bowls and teapots are very practical, that’s true, but it is also pleasant for the hands to use and the eye will admire them every day.

    Why our Chinese tea set?

Because our teaware evokes emotions, as if alive, it contacts you not only at eye level, but also tactilely, because our handmade ceramics usually have a texture and give unforgettable sensations to the fingers. Just hold any of our bowls in your hand and you will feel it. These tea sets have a soul, they have a history, they are endlessly pleasing to the eye and our customers regularly remind me of this. You can see the reviews on our Instagram, in pinned stories. It is an aesthetic thrill, yes, but we must not forget that they are made from personal love and personal experience from tea culture, so our sets for tea ceremonies have unique features in their shape and convenience. They are made both for your hands and for your eyes. This is not just Ukrainian craft, it is a high-quality and exclusive product that has no analogues, such tea sets are made by us and only in Ukraine. We can find both a tea set for pu-erh and a tea set for oolongs, what’s more, you can write to us in the chat in the lower left corner, or call me at the phone number indicated in the header of the site and I will be happy to advise you on all your questions and we will choose the perfect choice for you. This is the perfect gift tea set if you need to surprise an avid tea lover with something new, especially since it is 100% Ukrainian quality craft. You can order a tea set for a tea ceremony simply by adding it to your cart, or by calling us at the phone number listed in the header of the site.
